Elaine shares: "Within the past year, as St. Patrick's community has been dealing with our “situation”, I've been drawn to re-read
From Sand to Solid Ground (Questions of Faith for Modern Catholics) by Micheal Morwood (2007). A former missionary priest and faith educator from Australia, Morwood raises questions about faith/church that I relate to. In the late 1990s his writing was condemned by a conservative bishop: long story short, he left the priesthood. In 2008 Jim and I heard Morwood speak at a Call to Action event and each of us came away with a copy of Sand to Solid Ground book.
"I've shared the book with Jan Thomas, and we are interested in having a conversation about it on Thursday, September 9th at 7 PM, via a Zoom meeting (link available about a week prior to the date). We invite you to join us. The book is available
online for purchase. If you are interested in the ideas but lack time to read the book, Elaine will put together a synopsis within the next few days, and add it to the comments on the CB. I believe St. Patrick community embodies the Good News (Pentecost experience) that Morwood describes.
In this time of peril, may our community, our loved ones and all who seek Truth in our contemporary understanding of the universe, find a way forward!” -Elaine Clarke
