Book Club: "Be Opened!" by Lana Portolano

Come join our Deaf and Deaf Blind communities of St. Patrick's to read
Portolano's book about the history and relationship of the Deaf with the
Catholic church. As the author states in her Preface, "Time and again, the
history of Deaf Catholics bears witness to this need for inclusive communication. Because Deaf people have so often in their history looked to the Catholic Church as a spiritual home, Catholics are called to
assist deaf people as the struggle for religious inclusion and social justice..."

At this time of transition for St. Patrick's it is important that we know about each other's past, in hopes of continuing our future together.
